Back COVID - 19 Update 25/08/2021

25 August 2021

Dear Families & Friends,

We want to keep in touch and let you know what we’re doing to keep everyone safe during this Lockdown. To name a few differences, first and most importantly, the majority of our residents and staff are fully vaccinated. This is also enhanced with all our teams wearing appropriate PPE and the usual, no staff member is coming into work if they have any cold/flu-like symptoms.

It is a little different this time around due to a few factors:

1)      We have not got a definite ‘month’ timeline, and

2)      Many of our staff are in isolation as the impact of contact tracing continues, especially in Auckland and Wellington

3)      We have been here before … and again, we want to keep you involved as much as we can, so another reminder of the connection-points which we have found helpful for most.

Phones are busy

It is usual for the phone lines to have become a lot busier during Lockdowns. I would like to reassure you that if there is a situation, including a change in medical condition, that we need to talk to you about, we will be in touch.

Drop-Off of Items

There is a Drop Off location near the front door where items can be left. As mentioned in our letter last week, please ensure it is clearly labelled and in a disposable bag/container.

Online Meetings

If you would like to arrange an ‘online face-to-face chat’ then please email your manager or administrator and they will sort out an appropriate time and technology.

Thank you

Thank you for your messages of support that we have received. Every message, big or small, means a lot to our team who are working long hours, often while juggling their own family commitments, to fill gaps where families and friends are usually included.

While there is a lot of media speculation around Friday’s announcement, until there is certainty, we cannot predict how alert levels will sit for us all next week. Once we know more, we will write again so really this is just to let you know that we are sharing the hugs out and caring for your loved one when you cannot be near.

Warmest regards
